The latest stable version for Mozilla is Firefox 6. If you want to test the future versions of Firefox which are still experimental (7/8), then follow the instructions given below.
Firefox 6 Installation (Stable Release)
To install Firefox 6 (Beta Channel) on Ubuntu 11.04, then run these commands:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install firefox
For Ubuntu 10.10/10.04, run simply an update:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable
sudo apt-get update
Firefox 7 Installation (Aurora Channel)
To install Firefox 7 (Aurora Channel) on Ubuntu 11.04, then issue these commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/firefox-aurora
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install firefox
To uninstall Firefox 7, then use this command:
sudo ppa-purge ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/firefox-aurora
Firefox 8 Installation (Nightly Channel)
To install Firefox 8 (Nightly Channel) on Ubuntu 11.04, then issue these commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install firefox-trunk
To uninstall Firefox 8, then use this command:
sudo ppa-purge ppa:ubuntu-mozilla-daily/ppa
